Come out and learn more about how grasslands can impact wildlife and pollinators through habitat management. Topics include:

  • Importance of grasslands and their impacts on wildlife and pollinators

  • Pollinator and grassland habitat establishment

  • Managing grasslands and pollinator habitat

  • Pros and cons of introduced grasses vs. native grasses

  • Impacts of wetland habitats on water quality and soil health

  • Importance of managing invasive and noxious weed species

 

Featured speakers include Pheasants Forever, ODNR Division of Wildlife, OSU Extension, Landowner Testimonials, and USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.  

 

This event will end at 2:00pm. The event is FREE to attend but registration is required to get a headcount and communicate new details or updates. A light breakfast, lunch, water, and bathroom facilities will be provided by Advanced Insurance Group and the Black Swamp Chapter of Pheasants Forever.  

 

This event will include a field portion held outside at a local landowner's property (directions will be given at the nature center), and may include walking through vegetation and on uneven ground. Please dress accordingly and bring sunscreen and bug spray. There will be a short 10 minute drive to get to the landowner's property. This event will be held rain or shine.
