Join Quail Forever, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, and many other partners for this Ladies focused Learn & Burn workshop at Red Oaks Plantation. Check in begins at 8:30am and will wrap up at 4:30pm. In the event of poor weather conditions, the event will be rescheduled for February 12, 2024. What to Expect at this Event:

 
  • Participate in a live burn.
  • Learn prescribed burn techniques that you can use on your own land.
  • Learn about prescribed burn planning, burn permits, smoke management, fire weather, liability laws, and financial resources.
  • Use a drip torch and other tools of the trade. 
  • Ask questions of experienced professionals.
  • This registration covers your attendance at this event and includes lunch. 
 
Event Schedule:
 
  • Participants should arrive between 8:30am - 9:00am to check in.
  • Presentations will begin at 9:00am and wrap up at 4:30pm.
     
Requirements: 
 
  • We are asking for women only to register and attend this event.
  • This will be an introductory level event, ideal for participants with little to no prescribed fire experience.
  • Participants are required to sign a hold-harmless liability disclosure/waiver on the day of the event.
  • Participants must expect to be active part of the day walking on uneven ground and using/carrying tools.
  • Participants must wear natural fiber (cotton, linen, silk, wool) pants and shirts. Leather boots are preferred. Participants are encouraged to bring eye protection and leather gloves.

  • Participants are encouraged to bring a bandana, water bottle, and sunscreen
