Join our chapter public outreach event where we will "prowl" the woods to hoot with a barred owl.
Matt Lefler, the Pheasants Forever Education and Outreach Coordinator for Michigan, will start us out with the Biology of common Owls in Michigan. We will then walk through the woods at dusk to try to call a Barred Owl. Topics such as adaptations, habitat and a connection to turkey hunting will be discussed.
"Whooo" knows, we might even have an opportunity to see or hear some woodcock doing their mating dance while we are out.
Limited to the first 12 people to register. This event is free and open to all ages and genders. We will need your contact info so that we can provide complete details prior to the event, and just in case we need to cancel due to inclement weather.
Please wear dark clothes that fit the weather for the day and comfortable shoes.
Please bring a butt pad if you have one for your comfort.
If you do not have the Merlin app (Cornell Lab) on your phone, it is something we would encourage you to consider. This app is great to help you identify birds by sound or site when you are out exploring or even in your backyard.
