Join us for a classroom primer followed by a hands-on field session focused on identifying native plant species in working conservation landscapes. The classroom segment will build skills in diagnostic features (leaf and stem morphology, inflorescence types, growth forms), seasonal cues, and “look-alike” differentiation.
In the field, participants will apply what they’ve learned to identify native plants across micro-habitats and discuss how observed species composition connects to habitat function (e.g., pollinator resources, structural diversity). The day emphasizes real-world utility—linking plant identification to documentation standards, and management considerations.
Event will be held Aug 4th from 10 am - 3 pm at Sandy Lake Dam Recreation and Area in McGregor. For questions, contact Laura Kipf at lkipf@pheasantsforever.org
